GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado softball team will host a set of games in a fall exhibition against Colorado State University at 4 and 6 p.m on Friday. The games will be the first ever night games played at Butler-Hancock Softball Field.

It will be head coach Jennifer Schunke's first home game in command of the Bears. She brings both coaching and playing experience to the team, previously coaching for the Greeley Central Wildcats, as well as playing for the University of Arkansas from 1996-2000. Schunke is not unfamiliar with the Bears, as she was an assistant coach for the program in 2001 and 2002.

With only one senior last year, this year's team has hopes that an older squad with more experience will lead the team to a successful season.

Returning for the team are seniors Kelsey Dumler, Casey Hogue, Morgan Dahlman, Shea Carpenter and Astrid Yestness. Juniors for the Bears are Mackenzie Barrett and Ashley Geist. Sophomore players include Alyse Kochenberger, Katelyn Landorf, and Hillarie Van Otterloo. Rounding out the team are freshmen, Laura Christianson and Jessica Schoepflin.

Last season the Bears finished 12-34 and were the Division I Independent Tournament runner-up.

The team will complete its fall training with a doubleheader on Oct. 1, at 1 and 3 p.m. in Colorado Springs against Colorado-Colorado Springs.
