THE BEAR FACTS
The Bears went 3-2 at the Charleston Southern Tournament this past weekend.

Shortstop Morgan Dahlman and third baseman Ashley Martinosky each tallied five RBI during the tournament. Dahlman went 5-for-15 for the tournament with a double and a home run. Martinosky went 6-for-18 and posted two doubles and a home run.

The Bears began the tournament with a 7-2 win over Furman. Jessica Milligan pitched a complete game and struck out five. Casey Hogue went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Against Western Carolina, Northern Colorado had a tougher time, comitting four errors and enduring a 10-run sixth inning from the Catamounts. Freshman Hillarie Van Otterloo picked up the loss for the Bears. Mackenzie Barrett went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Northern Colorado got off to a good start in the second day of the tournament with wins over Brown and Rutgers. Shea Carpenter stifled Brown's offense, giving up six hits and striking out eight on her way to a complete game. Dahlman went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. The Bears almost let one slip away against Rutgers, as Northern Colorado led 6-0 going into the bottom of the seventh. The Scarlet Knights scored four runs before Carpenter came in and shut the door on Rutgers. Backup shortstop Jennifer Huston went 3-for-4 against the Scarlet Knights.

The Bears weren't able to get the bats going against Oakland in the final game of the day, losing 6-0 in the elimination round of the tournament. Northern Colorado committed four errors for the game. Milligan pitched a complete game, striking out eight and giving up three earned runs.
