TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
The University of Northern Colorado softball team will head to Summerville, S.C., to take part in the Charleston Southern Tournament. The Bears will face Furman at 10 a.m. and Western Carolina at noon on Friday to kick off the weekend. Then the team will face Brown at 9 a.m. and Rutgers at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Championship play of the tournament will begin on Sunday.

THE BEAR FACTS
The Bears went 0-5 last weekend at the UTEP Inivitational in games against UTEP, New Mexico, San Jose State and New Mexico State.

The Bears fell behind early to UTEP on Thursday, 5-0, but Northern Colorado came back and threatened the lead in the third inning. The Bears scored two runs in the inning and loaded the bases, but a popout to short by Aubrey Barnes and an Ashley Martinosky strikeout ended the inning. UTEP won the game 10-2.

The day was scheduled to be a doubleheader, but the second game was called in the third inning because of lightning and heavy rain.

After their Friday against Utah was washed out, the Bears took on a tough New Mexico team. Northern Colorado led 4-0 going into the bottom of the third, but costly errors allowed the Lobos to score 13 runs in the inning to put the game out of reach for the Bears. Northern Colorado ended up committing five errors in the game.

The Bears led 2-0 against San Jose State on Saturday, but the Spartans scored nine unanswered runs to score the 9-2 win. The Bears committed four errors and left eight runners on base in the game.

Later that day, Northern Colorado faced off against New Mexico State. The Aggies outgunned the Bears from the beginning, as NMSU took an 11-0 lead after three innings. Northern Colorado answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, but it was not enough as New Mexico State won 11-3.

On Sunday evening, Northern Colorado resumed play in the third inning of the game against UTEP that was postponed on Thursday. The Bears only got two hits en route to a 10-1 loss.

SERIES HISTORY
The Bears are 1-0 all-time against Furman, with the win coming at last year's Charleston Southern Tournament.

Northern Colorado has never faced Brown, Western Carolina or Rutgers.

ROAD WARRIORS
The Bears have just two home regular season games this season. They will host the Division II Regis Rangers on April 18 at Butler-Hancock Softball Field in a doubleheader. The only other time Northern Colorado will be at home is April 28-29, when the Bears host the Division I Independent Tournament. Northern Colorado will play a total of 41 games on the road.
