Feb. 17, 2007

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - For the second time in five games, the University of Northern Colorado softball team was no-hit, this time resulting in an 8-0 loss to UC-Santa Barbara in the "Softball by the Beach" Invitational on Saturday.

The Bears (1-7) fell victim to a gem by Gauchos' (5-2) pitcher Lindsey Correa.

Correa (2-0) pitched all five innings and struck out three. She only faced one batter over the minimum, issuing a walk to Alyse Kochenberger in the second inning.

Shea Carpenter (0-5) took the loss for Northern Colorado, giving up three runs in six innings on six hits. Hillarie Van Otterloo threw two innings in relief and didn't allow an earned run, while walking two and giving up one hit.

The Bears will get their chance at revenge on Sunday when they close out the tournament against UCSB. Before that, they take on Nevada in another rematch game. The Wolfpack beat Northern Colorado 3-0 on Friday. That game starts at 10 a.m. MST.
