Red Raiders Bombard Softball Bears, 12-2, In Five Innings

WICHITA, Kan. - The University of Northern Colorado softball team could not come up with an answer to Texas Tech's offensive firepower on Sunday at the Shocker Invitational, as the Bears lost 12-2 in five innings.
Northern Colorado (6-16) fell behind 2-0 after the top of the first inning, but the Bears clawed back in the bottom of the second when Morgan Dahlman and Casey Hogue scored on an error by TTU's Heather Parker.
The Red Raiders responded with 10 unanswered runs to put the game away. TTU was led by left fielder Whitney Riley, who went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.
Northern Colorado could not counter the pitching of Texas Tech's Erin Crawford, who gave up four hits and two runs in five innings of work.
Jessica Milligan dropped to 2-7 for the Bears after striking out five and giving up seven runs on four hits in 3.1 innings.
Hogue and Dahlman went 1-for-2 and scored a run in the game. Hogue tallied her fifth stolen base of the season.
The Bears will return to action on Tuesday against No. 15 Nebraska for a doubleheader in Lincoln, Neb. The first game will be at 11 a.m. mountain time.
