Softball Suffers 9-1 Loss to UT-San Antonio
EL PASO, Texas - The University of Northern Colorado softball team dropped a 9-1 decision to the University of Texas-San Antonio at the UTEP Tournament on Saturday morning.
UT-San Antonio scored a single run in the bottom of the first and then the teams settled into a pitcher's dual for the next four innings. UTSA broke through against UNC starter Kelsey Dumler in the bottom of the fifth inning and put up a six-run inning. Freshman Markelle Decker relieved Dumler in the inning but gave up two of the runs in the inning.
Northern Colorado got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth inning when senior Whitney Platten doubled to left center and scored sophomore Casey Hogue.
But UTSA would finish off the Bears in the bottom of the sixth inning when they scored two more runs to push the score to 9-1.
The loss dropped Northern Colorado to 0-7 on the season.
