Tennis Squads Debut On Newly Remodeled Courts Tomorrow
Sept. 18, 2006
GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado men's and women's tennis teams will hold scrimmages against Metro State at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Butler-Hancock Tennis Center.
It will be the first competition at the newly-renovated center, which includes six post-tension concrete courts in U.S. Open regulation colors, new nets and posts, new fencing and new fan and player seating.
The women kicked off the season this past weekend at the Lloyd Stolkstad Inviational at Drake University, where they combined for seven singles wins. Senior Meredith Krystofik, junior Karen Groll and freshman Hannah LaForest each had two victories.
The men will warm up with their Metro State scrimmage in preparation for a tournament at Drake University next weekend. The Bears return five from last season's team that finished 4-15 against a schedule that included three matches against nationally-ranked teams. Returning junior Kollman Gearhart led the Bears last season with 10 wins. Northern Colorado also returns junior Austin Nunn, who at 9-6 had the best winning percentage on the team.
