Men's Tennis Evens Season Record At 1-1

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado men's tennis team evened its season record with a 5-2 victory over South Dakota State on Friday morning. The Bears are now 1-1 on the young season.

 

After three hard-fought doubles matches, the Bears earned the team point with an 8-6 victory at number two as Austin Nunn and Ryan Dunn defeated Brian Hylle and Steve Grantz and at number three, Eric Morin and Kollman Gearhart defeated Cody Malick and Wade Kipply, 8-5.

 

Vinnie Fallico pulled of a straight-set victory at number one singles, though he needed a tie-breaker in the second set to do so, winning 6-4, 7-6 (4). Paul Tschetter at number three singles also won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, as did Kollman Gearhart at number six singles, 6-1, 6-3. Ryan Dunn lost his first set at number four singles, but bounced back to win the next two, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0.

 

Northern Colorado is now off until it hosts Air Force on March 1 at 1:00 p.m.
