Men's tennis shut out against Eastern Washington

GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado men's tennis team stumbled in Big Sky Conference play on Sunday, losing 7-0 to Eastern Washington.

Two of the three doubles matches were close, as the number one team of Ryan Lane and Robbie Edwards and the number three duo of Travis Day and Andre Lepine each lost 8-5, but all six singles matches were decided in straight sets.

"Lane and Edwards played a tough match at number one," said Head Coach Tim Bearman. "For the most part, everyone lacked the energy and consistency needed to pull off the upset today."

Lane put up the closest battle in singles action, with only one break in the second set for the 7-5 score at number two singles, but he lost the opening set 6-4.

Brandon Lupo was trailing 6-2, 4-2 when he had to retire due to injury at number one singles.

The Bears return to action on Feb. 18 when they play at Nebraska-Omaha at 11:00 am and at Creighton at 7:00 pm. Both matches are in Omaha.
