Men's Tennis Concludes 2010 Season

MISSOULA, Mont. – In the final match of the 2010 season, the Northern Colorado men’s tennis team lost a 7-0 decision to the University of Montana.

The Bears end their season with a 1-15 record and a 0-8 mark in Big Sky Conference action. Montana moves to 8-6 on the year and 5-2 in league play with one match remaining before the tournament.

The trip to Montana showed the youth of the Bears as all six players on the roster are either freshmen or sophomores.

The Griz won all three doubles matches for the first team point of the afternoon and then swept all six singles spots in straight sets for the 7-0 win.

Both number one (Calix Van Lier, Robbie Edwards) and number two (Travis Day, Conor Buchanan) lost 8-1, while the number three (Ryan Lane, Andre Lepine) doubles team fell 8-3.

Lane posted the closest scores on the afternoon at number two singles, falling 6-2, 6-3.

The men’s field is set for the Big Sky Tournament as Sacramento State, Weber State, Northern Arizona and Montana will all compete for the 2010 title.
