POCATELLO, Idaho – The Northern Colorado men’s tennis team got things started on Saturday by winning the doubles point in Big Sky Conference action against Idaho State, but was not able to carry the momentum over into singles action, falling 6-1 to the Bengals.

Calix Van Lier and Robbie Edwards posted an 8-4 victory at number one doubles, while Conor Buchanan and Travis Day won 8-6 at number two to give the Bears the first team point of the match. Andre Lepine and Ryan Lane fell 8-2 at number three.

Idaho State took over once singles action began, winning all six ladder spots. Five of the six were decided in straight sets, while Lane battled to a third set, but Dakota Pate eventually won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

The Bears don’t get much rest as they face Weber State on Sunday afternoon.
