Men's tennis get blanked by Weber State

RESULTS: vs. Weber State

GREELEY, Colo. -- The Northern Colorado men’s tennis team fell to Big Sky foe Weber State Saturday, Feb. 21, at Work Out West.

The Wildcats won all three doubles matches Saturday and followed with a sweep of the six singles matches against Northern Colorado (1-8, 1-4 Big Sky Conference)

The Bears fought hard and had some close matches but were unable to break through for any victories.

Calix Van Lier (No. 2 singles) battled in his first set against WSU’s Simon Unger but fell 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.

Jordan Boecker (No. 3) managed to stay close against WSU’s Henning Hipp but was unable to hold crucial service games and lost 6-3, 6-3.

Andy Green (No. 4) later was in control of the first set but was unable to hold on against WSU’s Spencer Merchant’s, who earned a dramatic come-from-behind win, 7-6, (9-7).

The Bears will next have a nonconference match at 11 a.m. Saturday at Air Force.
