This Week
The University of Northern Colorado men's golf team competes in its fourth tournament of the fall season when they travel to The Prestige on Oct. 17-18 at the PGA West Course. The Prestige is one of the toughest college tournaments in the country and played at one of the top courses in the country.
This year's field includes hosts Stanford and UC Davis, as well as BYU, California, Colorado, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Illinois, Kansas, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pepperdine, Texas, Pacific and Yale.
Last year the Bears finished 15th of 16 teams at the event. UCLA is the two-time defending champion at the event and they are currently ranked No. 8 in the country.
Last Time Out
After sharing the lead following two rounds, the University of Northern Colorado men's golf team slipped back a pair of spots, finishing third overall at the Boise State Bronco Invitational being held at the Crane Creek Country Club.
After firing a blistering 281 score in the second round, Northern Colorado shot 299 during the final round and finished 10 strokes behind champion Santa Clara. Host Boise State, who the Bears shared the first day lead with, finished second, seven strokes ahead of UNC. The Bears did top 11 other teams in the field including Weber State, Idaho State, Utah Valley State and South Dakota State. Individually, junior Eric Higgins fired a final round 77 (+6) and finished in a tie for sixth place overall. He finished at +2 for the event, just three strokes behind individual medalist Graham DeLaet of Boise State.
Senior Tim Knight had a final round 1-over round of 72 and finished 12th (+6), tied with junior teammate Kyle Sullivan, who shot 73 during the third round. Junior Jon Stecher finished 29th (+14), while sophomore Eric Doyle was 64th.
National Rankings
In the latest Golfweek national rankings (Oct. 12), Northern Colorado is ranked 124th out of 281 Division I teams.

The Bears wrap-up their fall season when they compete at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 in Las Cruces, N.M.
