Men's Golf Gold Team to Host Six-Team Tournament on Sunday and Monday

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado men's golf 'Gold' team will host a two-day tournament at the Greeley Country Club this Sunday and Monday.

The event will feature other J.V. teams and Division II squads from the state of Colorado and surrounding areas. Scheduled to compete are the Air Force J.V. team, Colorado Christian, Colorado Mines, Nebraska-Kearney and Regis.

Competing for Northern Colorado will be freshman Ron Alford, freshman Ryan Boshoven, freshman Brady Garr, senior Kyle Burns, junior Tom Gempel, sophomore Derek Hofmeister and junior Doug Sutter.

Sunday's play will feature 18 holes beginning at 12:30 p.m. Monday's play will have two separate rounds, a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and the final round shotgun at 1 p.m.

"It is always a treat for me to be able to host all of our friends from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC)," said Bears head golf coach Wally Goodwin. "We will keep doing this as long as I am here."

The first-team Bears golfers will return to action on Oct. 8-9 at the Windon Memorial Classic in Glencoe, Ill. The event is hosted by Northwestern and being held at the Skokie Country Club. Goodwin served as the head coach at Northwestern from 1981-87.
