WINDSOR, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado men's golf team completed play in the 2007 Division I Independent Golf Championships on Sunday, finishing with a team score of 299 to lock up third place in the seven-team event, held at Pelican Lakes Golf and Country Club.
Eric Higgins and Kyle Burns each had two-over par rounds of 74 to finish the weekend tied for sixth place with a score of 216.
Kyle Sullivan was one stroke back, with a 75 on the day, and finished with a total score of 223, one shot ahead of Jonathan Stecher. Derek Hofmeister rounded out the Bears' scoring with an 80 on Sunday, carding a 227 for the weekend.
Sacramento State won the event with a -1 score of 863, 12 strokes ahead of Northern Colorado.
North Dakota State's Eric Johnson won individual honors with a score of 206, 10 shots under par.
