Men's Golf Finishes Fifth At Hiddenbrooke

VALLEJO, Calif. - The Northern Colorado men's golf team finished the Hiddenbrooke Invitational in fifth place at 88 over par, with a combined score of 952 (318, 316, 318).

Throughout the tournament, Steve Bidne saw steady improvement.  The sophomore started the tournament carding an 80 and it only got better from there.  Bidne improved two strokes in round two giving him a 78 and continued to move up the rankings in round three after carding a 74 in the third.  Bidne finished the tournament tied for eighth place at 16 over par, and an overall score of 232.

Senior Rich Lash had solid performances in the first two rounds of the tournament carding a 77 in each.  Lash slipped a little bit in the third round carding an 84, but still was able to maintain a good spot for the Bears.  The senior finished at 22 over par in 16th place, with an overall score of 238.

The most consistent play of the tournament came from Ryan Boshoven.  Boshoven's first and third round saw the same score of 81 while in his second round he carded an 80.  The redshirt sophomore finished the day in 22nd at 26 over par with a final tally of 242.

Just behind him was sophomore Alberto Dell'Anna who only got better throughout the tournament.  Dell'Anna carded a first round score of 83 and improved two strokes each round after giving him a final score of 243.  He finished in 23rd place at 27 over par.

Freshman Kory Harrell finished the tournament tied for 30th at 30 over par and carding a final score of 246 (80, 81, 85).

The winning team came from Drury University at 22 over par with a combined score of 922 (304, 310, 308).  The individual winner of the tournament was Armando Favela from Loyola-Chicago posting an overall score of 221 (71, 78, 72) at just five over par. 

The next tournament for the men's golf team will be the Diet Pepsi/Shocker Classic in Wichita, Kansas on March 30-31.
