A LOOK AHEAD:

  • At 7:05 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, Feb. 9, Northern Colorado will play its second straight game on the road as it finishes up its Montana road swing with a battle against Montana State. The Bears will be looking to snap a six-game road losing streak.
  • Montana State comes into Saturday's matchup tied for fourth in the Big Sky with a 7-6 conference record and a 10-11 overall mark. The Bears will be looking to extend the Bobcats' struggles as of late though, as the team has lost two of its last three, including an 82-73 loss at home on Thursday to North Dakota.
  • The Bears are hoping for some payback as they look to avenge a 69-66 loss at home earlier this season to the Bobcats. In that one, the Bears led virtually the entire game before being overtaken in the contest's final minutes. Montana State holds a 34-18 advantage in the all-time series and the Bears are 6-13 against the 'Cats in Bozeman.
  • Montana State is led by senior guard Christian Moon, who comes into Saturday's game averaging a team-high 13.8 points per game while pulling 3.5 rebounds per contest. Another senior guard, Xavier Blount is averaging 11.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

NORTHERN COLORADO NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Bears forced 15 Montana turnovers in Thursday's loss, the most turnovers the Bears have forced since Wichita State turned it over 15 times. The season high is 20 turnovers by UC Riverside.
  • Redshirt juninor Tate Unruh got back on track from three-point land against Montana. After not hitting a three in last Saturday's loss to Weber State, Unruh nailed three 3-pointers against the Griz. He currently is 17th in the nation in both 3-pointers per game (3.00) and three-point percentage (.434).
  • Junior Derrick Barden will likely move into Northern Colorado's record books against Montana State, as he needs just seven rebounds to pass Taylor Montgomery for the most rebounds in a single season in Bears' Division I history. Montgomery is the currentl record holder with 190 rebounds. Barden is 51st nationally in rebounding (8.8/game).
