Northern Colorado Women's Tennis Team Opens Season at Wyoming The 2007 season gets underway for the Northern Colorado women's tennis team on Friday, Sept. 14 as they compete in the Wyoming Invitational in Laramie. The invitational will consists of five other teams and runs from Sept. 14-16 at the UW Tennis Complex. Matches on all three days are set to begin at 8:00 a.m. The teams competing in the tournament will be the Air Force Academy, Colorado State, Montana State, Northern Colorado, Weber State and Wyoming. Year Two This is the second year of competition in the Big Sky Conference for both the men and women's team. Last season, the women finished 6-12 overall and 2-5 in their inaugural season of Big Sky play. The men went 4-14 overall and 1-6 in conference play. Tennis To Host Clinic The Northern Colorado men's and women's tennis team will be holding its second annual tennis funding raising clinic for the programs on Saturday, Oct. 13 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the newly completed tennis complex, located southeast of the Butler-Hancock Athletic Center. The clinic will feature personalized instruction from head tennis coach Brenda Vlasak and assistant coach Scott Langs, as well member of the Bears tennis teams. A social gathering and lunch will follow the clinic. The cost of the clinic is $75. Each participant will receive an official Northern Colorado tennis t-shirt. Food and beverages will also be provided. Up Next The women's team will next head to the CU Invitational in Boulder, Colo. from Sept. 28-30. The NC men's team opens their season with CCU on Sept. 21 before heading to the Balloon Festival held in Albuquerque, N.M. from Oct. 5-7. |
