This Week
The University of Northern Colorado men's golf team will wrap-up the fall portion of its 2006-07 schedule when it competes at the Food4Less Pacific Invitational on Nov. 6-8 at the Brookside Country Club in Stockton, Calif.

The event will feature host Pacific, BYU, Charlotte, Cal State Northridge, San Jose State, UC Irvine, Rice, Fresno State, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside and Rhode Island.

Last Time Out
Playing against one of the top fields at one of the most prestigious college tournaments in the country, Northern Colorado finished 12th overall at The Prestige at PGA West, held Oct. 16-17.

The Bears were as high as fourth after the first round but fell back to finish 12th in the 15 team field, edging Oregon, San Diego and Princeton. Co-host Stanford snapped UCLA's three-year reign as the team champion, finishing at -15 for the two-day event, two strokes better than the Bruins.

Junior Tom Gempel led the way for the Bears, carding a final round 75 (+3) to finish at 222 (+6) for the event, putting him in 27th place. That was one stroke better than sophomore Jordan Ensrud, who had a 76 on Tuesday and finished 31st (+7). Junior Eric Higgins was 44th (+10) and Kyle Sullivan was 51st (+13). Senior Jon Stecher had a pair of rounds of 79 on Monday but withdrew from Tuesday's final round. Stanford's Zack Miller had a final round 69 (-3) to claim individual medalist honors.

National Rankings
Northern Colorado finished the 2005-06 season ranked 102nd nationally out of 292 total Division I teams by Golfweek. The Bears were ranked 99th at the end of the fall season, and were 93rd following the 2004-05 season. The Bears are currently 133th in the latest Golfweek rankings (Nov. 3).

Next Up
Northern Colorado is back in action on March 19-20 when it will travel to the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif. The event will be held at the Pasatiempo Golf Course and hosted by San Jose State.
