Bidne earns second America Sky player of the week
Northern Colorado’s Steve Bidne was named America Sky Conference Golfer of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24, 2010, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Bidne rallied after a first round of 77 with rounds of 71 and 72 en route to a ninth place finish for the junior at the Washington State Snowman Getaway Tournament in Chandler, Ariz.
Bears finish in eighth at Snowman Getaway
The Northern Colorado men’s golf squad used a strong final round to land itself in eighth place at the Washington State University Snowman Getaway.
The Bears final round score of 300 (+12) was its best of the tournament and enabled the team to move up a spot on the final day at Whirlwind Golf Club.
Bears sit in ninth place after first day in Chandler
The Northern Colorado men’s golf team finds itself in ninth place after the first day of action at the Washington State Snowman Getaway in Chandler, Ariz.
The Bears put together scores of 305 (+17) and 306 (+18) in the first and second rounds at the windy and rain-soaked Whirlwind Golf Club for a two-round score of 611 (+35).
Mistakes cost Bears a chance to contend in Houston
After putting itself into a tie for fourth place after the first two rounds at the Rice Intercollegiate, the Northern Colorado men’s golf team failed to take advantage of improving weather and missed a chance to contend for the title.
A mistake-filled final round ended up costing the Bears immensely as it put together a final round score of 312 (+24), which was the third-highest score of the day.
