Portland State at Northern Colorado Post Game Notes

November 17, 2007

  • Sophomore defensive end John Eddy recorded at least one sack in the last three games of the season, ending this year with seven. The last time a Bear had a sack in three straight games was in 2004 when Thomas Smith had one against UC Davis (Oct. 2), one at Southeastern Louisiana (Oct. 9) and two against Florida Atlantic (Oct. 16).

  • Sophomore defensive back Stephen Michon tallied an interception in the first quarter for his second of the year and his second straight for the team. He then intercepted his second pass of the day in the second quarter and returned it 26 yards for the longest return of his career.

  • Freshman linebacker C.J. Stemo recovered the first fumble of his career in the second quarter on a punt return. The fumble was forced by senior tight end Clint Wright, the second fumble he has forced on special teams this season.

  • Freshman wide receiver Brandon Smith scored the first touchdown of his career in the second quarter and became just the second wide receiver to score this season as the first eight receiving touchdowns all came from passes to tight ends. His 33-yard reception was the longest catch of his career, surpassing his previous best of 29 yards from the win against Montana State.

  • Senior D.J. Craft had the third interception of the day, the second of the year for the defensive back and the third of his career, picking off Hubel in the second quarter. Freshman linebacker Matt King picked off the fourth pass of the day.

  • The last time Northern Colorado had four interceptions in a game was Nov. 12, 2005 vs. Sam Houston State when the defense picked off six passes in the 24-3 Bears victory.

  • Junior linebacker Trey Keene recovered his first fumble of his career in the fourth quarter.

  • Senior quarterback Dominic Breazeale rushed for his first touchdown of the season and the third of his career, scoring from five-yards out in the fourth quarter.
