Northern Colorado Drops 9-4 Game to Creighton![]() April 28, 2007
OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Northern Colorado baseball team fell into a 5-0 hole after three innings, and despite mounting a comeback, dropped a 9-4 decision to Creighton University on Saturday, losing their second game in as many days to the Bluejays. After getting down early, the Bears (10-25) responded with a three-run fourth to cut into the Bluejays' (29-11) lead. Cory Morales opened the inning with a triple to right, and scored on a Kevin Sandberg single for the team's first run. John Ray followed with a single up the middle to move Sandberg to second. After both runners advanced a base on a ground out, Adam Symons sent a clutch single up the middle to score two runs. Creighton scored four more runs in the sixth to ice the game, though the Bears added another run in the seventh when Phil Santucci reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Symons for the game's final run. Symons led the Bears with two hits and two RBI, while Chad Murray and Santucci also had hits. Dan Kazell (1-2) started for Northern Colorado, and allowed four earned runs in 2 2/3 innings of work, striking out one and walking two. Chris Reap and Matt Collins also pitched in relief.
