2005 Division I All-Independent First-Team In three years with the program, has proven to be one of the top home run hitters in the country, and one of the best in school history ... his 28 career home runs ranks fifth in Northern Colorado history ... averages a home run every 18.8 at-bats (526 at-bats/28 home runs) ... 526 career at-bats ranks sixth in school history ... holds the school record for home runs by a freshman (12) and shares the school record for at-bats in a game (7). 2006: Played in 50 games, starting 47, during his junior season ... started 43 times at catcher, twice at designated hitter and once each at first and third base ... remained an excellent defensive catcher, throwing out 19 runners who tried to steal against him, the fourth most among Division I Independent players, and had a .990 fielding percentage (only four errors in 335 chances) ... had seven at-bats against No. 29 Wichita State (May 10), which tied a school record ... struggled with his power all season long, hitting only five home runs, after double-digit round tripper totals his first two seasons ... finished strong, however, hitting two home runs in his final 10 games and was named to the All-Tournament team at the Division I Independent Invitational after going 7-for-18 (.389) with the two home runs and five RBI ... did not hit his first home run of the season until April 8 against South Dakota State; that was in his 94th at-bat of the season and dating back to 2005, marked a stretch of 103 at-bats without a home run (that blast in 2005 also came against SDSU) ... that was his longest career stretch without a home run (surpassing a 35 at-bat streak) ... needed only seven more at-bats to crank his second blast of the season, also against SDSU (Apr. 9) and then seven more at-bats to homer again (vs. Air Force on April 11) ... after his third home run of the season, went 73 more at-bats without a home run until homering against North Dakota State (May 18) in the opening game of the Division I Independent Invitational ... the next day he also homered against IPFW (May 19) ... was named D-I Independent Co-Player of the Week on April 11 after hitting .438 (7-for-16) with four runs, three doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage in games against Air Force and South Dakota State ... had a big two-run single in a four-run sixth inning as the Bears topped No. 2 Nebraska 5-2 on March 28 ... in 11 games against D-I Independent teams in 2006, hit .400 (18-for-45) with 13 runs, five doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI and a .822 slugging percentage ... had 12 multiple-hit and seven multiple-RBI games during the season ... was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI in a 10-2 victory over North Dakota State (May 18) at the D-I Independent Invite ... was 2-for-6 with two RBI against Nebraska-Kearney (Mar. 15) ... was 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, a double, triple and walk against Utah Valley State (Apr. 15) ... saw action at third base for the first in his college career against Lamar (Feb. 4).
