GREELEY, Colo. - University of Northern Colorado senior running back Andre Wilson was named the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Wilson rushed for 136 yards on 23 carries last week in Northern Colorado's last game of the season. In the process, he became the Bears' No. 1 all-time rusher with 3,561 yards ahead of Billy Holmes. He also finished with 1,027 yards for the season, making him just the third running back in Northern Colorado history to rush for at least 1000 yards two seasons in-a-row.
It was the first time a Northern Colorado student-athlete had received the award this season.
Wilson was named to the All-Big Sky Conference second team on Monday for his performance this year.
The award is sponsored by Pioneer Press and is voted on by NFF Colorado Chapter board members. Players are nominated by sports information directors at all Colorado schools with football programs.
