Derrick Davison will move to the defensive line in 2013 after serving as the linebackers coach in both 2011 and 2012.

Davison concluded his playing career in 2000 for the University of Iowa, earning two letters for the Hawkeyes. He joined Iowa from North Dakota State College of Science, where he was named a preseason Junior College All-American in 1998 and earned all-conference honors in both 1997 and 1998.

He then spent several seasons playing for the Quad City Steamwheelers in the Arenafootball2 league before turning his attention to coaching. In 2004 he was a graduate assistant at the University of Northern Iowa, where he worked mainly with the defensive line.

From 2005-06, Davison was an assistant coach at Ellsworth (Iowa) Community College, assisting the defensive coordinator.

The next three years were spent as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Milford Academy in New Berlin, N.Y., before he joined the Alcorn State staff in 2010 to coach the defensive line.

Davison has a daughter, Charday.
