GREELEY – The day after Spring Break for many means slowly working yourself back into the routine of getting up, going to classes and starting to prepare for final examinations. For the Northern Colorado Football team, the day after Spring Break this year means all that, plus the beginning of spring football practices.

The Bears begin spring drills on Monday, March 25 at 3:30 pm and will practice two hours a day on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, concluding with the annual Battle of the Bears at noon on April 20.

Those 14 practices leading up to the spring game will be used by the coaches as a preliminary for fall camp and give the players time to learn new positions, work on technique and learn any new plays the coordinators dreamed up during the break.

Weekly practices will run from 3:30 to 5:30 on the turf practice fields outside the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion, while Saturday practices are slated from 1 to 3:30, also on the turf practice fields. All practices are open to the media and the public.

Northern Colorado is coming off a 5-6 season which included the team's first .500 conference season (4-4) since joining the Big Sky Conference in 2006. They return 14 starters off that team, including Big Sky All-Conference honorable mention selections Jace Davis (WR), Seth Lobato (QB), Courtney Hall (CB) and Gavin Miller (DE).

The football program will also host its third annual Football Letterman Weekend for alumni April 19-21. For registration and further information, click here.
