• Saturday marks the 15th reunion of the 1996 NCAA Division II National Championship team. The team went 12-3 overall and 5-3 in NCC play and won the four playoff games by a combined 14 points. Seven players were named to the first-team all-conference team, while two more were honorable mention selections.
• Northern Colorado is looking for its first win of the 2011 season and for the third week in a row, faces a team they haven't defeated in Big Sky action. The Bears are 0-5 all-time against Sacramento State.
• Junior Dominic Gunn was honored as the national co-kickoff returner of the week by College Football Performance. His co-honoree, John Hendershott from Sacramento State.
• Freshman Devontae Chapple leads the Big Sky Conference in tackles for loss. The defensive end has 7.0 tackles for loss with 5.0 of those coming by quarterback sacks. He is also tied for the league-lead in total sacks
• The 2011 team has three fumble returns, establishing a new Division I school record. It is also the most since the 1998 team returned five fumbles.
• Senior safety Chuks Nweke recorded his 100th career tackle at Montana. He is second amongst active players with his 107 stops, trailing only Nick Hernon (121).
• Both senior wide receiver Patrick Walker and Gunn surpassed 2,000 career all purpose yards on Saturday. Walker now has 2,090 yards while Gunn sits at 2,030.
• Seven defensive players have recorded double figures in tackles a total of 12 times through the first five games of the year.
