Getting to know: Andrew Downing

GREELEY, Colo. – During the hottest day of the summer, the Northern Colorado offense shined during the goal-line period, marking the final practice of camp.

The Bears have the second scrimmage of the fall on Saturday beginning at 9:30 am and will have a Meet and Greet immediately following. The team then begins classes on Monday as they move into their normal practice schedule.

To celebrate the quickly approaching 2011 season, each practice prior to school starting uncbears.com will be highlighting a different senior on the roster. Each senior will be asked a series of questions and then those same questions will be asked to a roommate or friend on the team, as well as another player of the same position to test how well they know each other.

Andrew Downing, a fullback from Greeley, enters his final campaign after earning Big Sky honorable mention All-Conference honors a season ago. He has played in 29 career games and has been an important member of several special teams units. In 2010, he caught four receptions for 18 yards.

Former high school teammate Gavin Miller and friend Cameron Kaman were polled to see how well they know Downing off the field.

Both Kaman and Miller correctly answered 4-of-15 questions about Downing. Stay tuned tomorrow to see how well the 2011 Northern Colorado football team knows its seniors.
