Getting to know: Chuks Nweke
GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado football team returned to the practice field for two practices on Monday. In the afternoon practice, the defensive backs and wide receivers got a quick five-minute visit from former Denver Broncos star Rod Smith.
He told the team to not take anything for granted and to realize they are special and there are thousands of other students on campus who wished they had the same opportunity. He also spoke to how far hard work will get you in life.
To celebrate the 2011 season, each practice prior to school starting uncbears.com will be highlighting a different senior on the roster. Each senior will be asked a series of questions and then those same questions will be asked to a roommate or friend on the team, as well as another player of the same position to test how well they know each other.
Chuks Nweke, a senior safety from Colorado Springs, has played in all 33 games during his career. In 2010, he tallied six tackles in each of the final four games of the year, totaling 40 on the year. He has three career interceptions, including one in the 2010 season finale victory at Portland State. Nweke earned his bachelor’s degree in finance in May and is concentrating on being the best leader he can during his final campaign.
Fellow secondary athletes Brandon Owens and Jordan Bible were polled to see how well they know Nweke off the field.
