Getting to know: Amal Gumbs

GREELEY, Colo. – Though the Northern Colorado football team didn’t have a practice on Sunday, the Bears were hard at work in film study, team meetings and a joint activity. They return to the field on Monday for two practices as camp enters its final week.

To celebrate the 2011 season, each practice prior to school starting uncbears.com will be highlighting a different senior on the roster. Each senior will be asked a series of questions and then those same questions will be asked to a roommate or friend on the team, as well as another player of the same position to test how well they know each other.

Amal Gumbs played in just one full game of 2010 before suffering a season-ending injury at Weber State. Gumbs transitioned to the offensive line from the defensive line after the 2008 season when a rash of injuries struck the team. The Denver native has played in 34 games for the Bears, playing 22 on the defensive side of the ball and 12 on offense.

Fellow senior VJ Holmes, who played beside him on the d-line and junior offensive lineman Rick Aversano were polled to see how well they know Gumbs off the field.
