Getting to know: Nick Hernon
GREELEY, Colo. – Day two of the Northern Colorado football camp is in the books. To celebrate the 2011 season, each practice prior to school starting uncbears.com will be highlighting a different senior on the roster. Each senior will be asked a series of questions and then those same questions will be asked to a roommate or friend on the team, as well as another player of the same position to test how well they know each other.
Day two flipped to the defensive side of the ball and talked with defensive end Nick Hernon. A season ago, he was an honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference pick and was named to the Big Sky All-Academic squad. He is the second amongst returners in tackles with 45 a year ago. He also led the 2010 team with 10.5 tackles for loss and was second on the club with seven quarterback hurries. Hernon was one of five defensive players to force multiple fumbles in 2010 and he also recovered one.
We polled friend and junior defensive lineman Dylan Kildahl and fellow defensive lineman and roommate Jon Martin to see how well they know Hernon off the field.

Kildahl slightly edged out Martin, getting 5-of-14 correct, while Martin correctly answered four. Hernon doesn’t have a nickname so that question was deleted from the list. Stay tuned tomorrow to see how well the 2011 Bears team knows each other.
