2010: Notched 34 total tackles, playing in all 11 games... Two of his tackles were for loss and he also tallied one pass break-up and one quarterback hurry on the year... Recorded a career-best 10 tackles at South Dakota, where he also had one of his two tackles for loss... Had multiple stops in eight of the 11 contests.

2009: Played in seven games, starting in four before the return of John Eddy to the lineup... Notched 18 total tackles with 1.5 for loss and had one quarterback hurry... Had a career-best six tackles in the season opener at Kansas and tallied at least three tackles in each of his four starts.

2008: Redshirted.

High School: Four-year letterwinner in both football and basketball and earned one letter in track & field... Recorded 130 tackles, three career sacks and one fumble recovery.

Personal: Is the youngest of two children of Butch and Regina Friend, with an older sister Camilla... Born July 18, 1990 in Denver... Is majoring in political science.
