McGraw wins FCS ADA post-graduate scholarship
Tim McGraw, a center from the University of Northern Colorado, was one of two recipients of the Tenth Annual Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Each will receive a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship.

The Big Sky Conference has announced the members of the 2010 Fall All-Academic teams for football, volleyball, women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s cross-country. Northern Colorado had 29 student-athletes named to the team.

Football signs 18 to NLI
He might not have had very long to recruit, but University of Northern Colorado head football coach Earnest Collins Jr and his staff worked endlessly over the previous weeks to sign 18 to National Letter of Intents during the signing period. The signing class includes 11 players from offense, six defensive players, one athlete and 11 from the state of Colorado, as well as two junior college transfers.

Seventeen Northern Colorado seniors played their final home game at Nottingham Field on Saturday, coming up just short against Northern Arizona, 21-14. The Bears (2-8, 1-6 Big Sky) scored two of the final three touchdowns in the game, but it was not enough as the Lumberjacks (5-4, 3-3 Big Sky) put up two TDs in the first quarter.

Big plays cost football at Sacramento State
Sacramento State made several big plays to open the game in the second half and defeat the Northern Colorado football team, 42-7 on the Hornets homecoming. The Bears (2-4, 1-3 Big Sky) trailed by only a touchdown at halftime, 14-7, but the Hornets (3-3, 2-2) blocked a punt and recovered a fumble and ran both back for scores in the third quarter and kept pressing for the victory.

Football Shuts Out Adams State In Season Opener
In preseason interviews, the Northern Colorado football team has been talking about making a statement in 2010. They started off with an emphatic one, defeating Adams State 54-0 at Nottingham Field on Saturday. It is the Bears first shutout since Sept. 7, 2002 in the season opener against Western State.

Afterwards, the team assisted with the kick off to the 2010-11 academic year and realized that in just 15 days they would be hosting their own season kickoff against Adams State at Nottingham Field.
