Baseball Team Drops 10-1 Decision to Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas - University of Northern Colorado pitchers gave up 17 hits to Lamar in a 10-1 loss on Saturday afternoon, dropping the Bears to 5-6 on the season.
Chris Reap (1-2) started for Northern Colorado and lasted 4 1/3 innings, while allowing six earned runs on 13 hits.
After Lamar (11-6) opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second, the Bears responded in the top of the third to tie the score.
Kevin Sandberg drew a bases-loaded walk to score Cory Morales, who had reached base on a fielder's choice. In the inning, the Bears had seven batters at the plate, without a walk or a hit. There were three errors in the inning, all by Lamar infielders.
The Cardinals scored eight runs in a three-inning stretch, starting in the fourth, to pull away.
Dan Kazell came in in relief of Reap and allowed four runs in 3 1/3 innings of work, striking out two and allowing four hits.
The Bears conclude their three-game series with the Cardinals Sunday with a 12 p.m. local start time.
