Thomas Lear joined the Northern Colorado Baseball staff in August 2011 as Carl Iwasaki's Director of Baseball Operations. He came to Greeley after earning in 2011 his bachelor's degree in humanities/fine arts from Wyoming.
Lear's baseball experience includes playing at the high school varsity and American Legion levels and working with the Colorado Rockies (facilities coordinator), the Columbus Catfish (public relations/media relations & promotions assistant) and the Laramie Colts Baseball Club (team operations intern).
He also has experience working in others of athletics, including spending time with the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats (operations intern) and Wyoming Athletics (sports information/media relations intern),
With the Bears Lear assista Iwasaki and his assistant coaches with on- and off-field baseball operations, including developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases to track player statistical information and other office-related tasks to assist in the advertisement of UNC Baseball Prospect Camps and to facilitate the operation of Northern Colorado Baseball.
He also assists during team practices, hitting sessions and intrasquad games and works with the Bears coaches to develop and improve talent evaluation skills and assist with the planning and booking of team travel, including creating accurate itinerary of travel plans for coaching staff, arranging food services and various other duties.
Lear lives in Greeley and is pursuing his master's degree in sports administration at Northern Colorado.
