ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The fourth and final game of the opening series of the 2010 season for Northern Colorado baseball did not quite go according to plan as No. 19 New Mexico jumped on the pitching early and never let up, winning 13-5 at Isotopes Park.

The Bears (1-3) dropped three of four games to College Baseball Insider's "Team of the Week" as the Lobos moved to 5-2 on the year with the win.

Freshman pitcher Mark Shannon took the loss for the Bears, allowing six runs on 11 hits in 3.2 innings pitched. He did not walk any Lobos. Four other hurlers took the mound on the afternoon, with Chris Carlberg pitching 0.1 innings allowing four runs, three earned on two hits, Eric Skufca threw 2.0 innings allowing one run on two hits, Forbes Scott gave up one hit in 1.0 inning and Scott Cure pitched the final inning, allowing two runs on four hits.

Senior Tyler Borzileri hit the team's third home run of the season, giving the Bears their first run in the top of the third inning. Sophomore Adrian Schenk tallied two of the team's six hits in the game, while sophomore Tony Crudo and Schenk each had two RBI.

The Lobos tallied 20 hits over their eight innings, including five doubles and two triples. They used six pitchers with Brett Mares getting the victory after throwing 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out three.

The Bears will face both Creighton and Sam Houston State at the Bearkat Invitational, beginning on Friday with a game against the BlueJays at 1:00 p.m. (Central).
