Northern Colorado Athletics announces Jennifer Roulier-Huth as the 13th head coach in UNC women's basketball history
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Athletics announced the hiring of Jennifer Roulier-Huth as head women's basketball coach. A Colorado native, she returns home to the Centennial State after serving as an assistant coach the past seven seasons, most recently at UCLA. UNC will formally introduce Roulier-Huth at a press conference on Tuesday, May 1 at 2 pm in the Champions Room at Butler-Hancock Athletic Center.
"We are so excited to announce Jenny as the next head coach of our women's basketball program," Director of Athletics Darren Dunn said. "Jenny is an incredible person who will bring high energy and passion to our program and she will care tremendously for our student-athletes. She has many great mentors who have prepared her for this opportunity, such as Cori Close, head coach at UCLA, and Sue Semrau of Florida State. We are truly thrilled to welcome Jenny, Tracy, and Tanner to the Bear family and the Greeley community."
Over the past seven seasons at UCLA (2011-18), Roulier-Huth helped guide the Bruins to a 148-85 record including four NCAA Tournament appearances, three Sweet 16s and one Elite Eight. Her relentless work on the recruiting trails helped the program earn the top-ranked recruiting class in 2014.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to come back to my home state," Roulier-Huth said. "I'm excited for the chance to build on an already great program and look forward to getting to work at this great institution. Additionally, my family and I are thrilled to join the Greeley community"
Prior to UCLA Roulier-Huth worked in private business and as a high school coach for two seasons following her marriage in 2010. She previously served as an assistant women's basketball coach at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan from 2007-09, helping the Summit League team post 20-win seasons in both years and a school-record 26 wins in 2008-09.
She began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Florida State University from 2005-07. Working with Sue Semrau and her staff, Roulier-Huth guided FSU to three-straight 20-win seasons for the first time in school history and made the NCAA Tournament each year.
A standout player for Colorado from 1998-02, Roulier-Huth was a three-time All-Big 12 Conference selection and helped guide the Buffaloes to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in her senior season. She finished her career among the all-time top 10 at CU in career scoring with 1,399 points, three-point shots with 203 and three-point shooting percentage at .407. She was a member of Team USA's gold medal winning women's basketball team in the World University Games in 2001.
Following her playing career at CU, she played professionally for Club Estudiantes, a First-Division team based in Madrid, Spain and for the Colorado Chill of the National Women's Basketball League in 2004. She has also been involved with Athletes in Action and was a member of the 2003 fall tour.
A Colorado native, Roulier-Huth hails from Englewood, Colorado where she was a standout at Cherry Creek High School.
Roulier-Huth inherits a UNC women's basketball team coming off its best season in program history. The 2017-18 Bears won a program record 26 games en route to the Big Sky Regular Season championship before capturing the Big Sky Tournament championship and the team's first NCAA Tournament bid. Northern Colorado returns the Big Sky regular season and tournament MVP in Savannah Smith along with two other starters in Krystal Leger-Walker and Bridget Hintz.
