UNC men's basketball added on to its 2018 recruiting class with the addition of forward Cole Bergan
GREELEY, Colo. – Coming off a program record season in which Northern Colorado men's basketball won a program-best 26 games and the College Insider Tournament, UNC adds to its future with the signing of Cole Bergan to the 2018 recruiting class.
Bergan, a 6-7 forward from Aberdeen, South Dakota joins signees Sam Masten and Bodie Hume in the recruiting class. Masten earned the Gatorade Colorado Boy's High School Player of the Year honor and Hume was the 3A boy's basketball Player of the Year.
With several accolades of his own, Bergan, adds to the team's frontcourt depth after being first-team Class AA All-State first team honors both his junior and senior year. He was also a finalist for South Dakota Mr. Basketball. During his senior year, he averaged 15.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Bergan chose Northern Colorado over Lamar, North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Lehigh.
Coach Linder's Take
"We're really excited to add Cole Bergan to our roster for next year. As we continue to move forward as a program, one of the main needs that we identified in the incoming recruiting class is to improve our skill level in the frontcourt. Cole Bergan is a perfect match for that need with his high skill-level, ability to play both on the perimeter and in the post, and his overall feel for the game. Cole is always a threat when the ball is in hands because he can really score it, but even more importantly, he is one of the best passers for a frontcourt player that I've seen in a long time. Additionally, Cole is a good student and a good person, and the exact type of student-athlete that we want representing the UNC Men's Basketball Program."
