UNC men's basketball welcomes Bodie Hume to the program
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado added to its frontcourt depth with the addition of Bodie Hume from Sterling High School in Sterling, Colo. Hume, a 6-8, 190-pound wing/forward led Sterling High School to a 3A state title his junior season.
To go along with leading his high school to the title, Hume made it on the first team All-State Team for Class 3A, averaging 15.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 blocks per game. Hume has also been named first team all-conference as a sophomore and junior.
A multi-sport athlete, Hume set the CHSAA state record for touchdown passes in a half with 6 and the Sterling High School records for touchdown passes in a game and season.
Hume chose the Bears over offers from Mountain West Conference schools Air Force and Utah State University. Additionally, Hume received scholarship offers from Pepperdine, University of Denver, University of San Francisco, University of North Carolina-Greensboro, University of Nebraska-Omaha, Lehigh and Mercer.
Coach Linder's Take
"We're really excited about the signing of Bodie Hume for the 2018 class. Bodie is yet another great fit for our program in all aspects, not only from what he will bring to our program on the floor but just as important for his character off the court. Bodie has been an elite three-sport athlete at Sterling High School, also playing quarterback for the football team and pitching for the baseball team during his time at SHS. As a junior, he led the SHS basketball team to the 3A State Title as well. Bodie is a big, athletic, skilled wing that can play multiple spots both on offense and defense, and we truly believe he's only scratching the surface of his potential. Bodie has been coached by Mike Holloway at SHS, and by coach Simeon Boddie of the Colorado Hawks organization."
Sterling head coach Mike Holloway
"Bodie is a fantastic young man as well as student-athlete. The Sterling community is proud of Bodie and excited to watch him continue his basketball career with the up-and-coming UNC Bears!"
