Lockey and O'Neil earn All-Conference Honors

Kortney Lockey and Emily O'Neil were selected to the Big Sky Second Team
OGDEN, Utah— Northern Colorado volleyball placed two on the Big Sky All-Conference second team for the 2017 season. Outside hitter Kortney Lockey and middle blocker Emily O'Neil were honored by Big Sky coaches on Thursday for their outstanding seasons.
It is Lockey's second consecutive selection to the All-Conference second team after earning the honor in 2016. The junior leads the Bears with 3.27 kills per set, hitting .192 this season. On defense, Lockey is averaging 2.52 digs per set, which is good for third on the team.
For the season, Lockey has recorded 10 double-doubles; her latest one coming against Southern Utah (11/9) with 20 kills and a season-high 18 digs. She has only increased her production in Big Sky matches, with 3.72 kills per set and has a .199 hitting percentage. Lockey recorded season-best 22 kills, twice against Eastern Washington (11/3) and Northern Arizona (9/21).
O'Neil is one of the main net defenders for the Bears this season and leads the team with 1.04 blocks per set. She set a career-high with eight blocks against Portland (9/8), along with eight kills in the match.
O'Neil is second on the team with 31 solo blocks and first with 66 block assists for 97 total on the season. Besides blocking, O'Neil has been a consistent source of points for UNC and is recording 2.06 kills per set and hitting an efficient .263. O'Neil recently set a career-best with 13 kills against Southern Utah (11/9). In conference play, O'Neil is recording 2.16 kills per set and has a .258 attack percentage.
Postseason Awards
Sacramento State setter Kennedy Kurtz was named Big Sky MVP and Sac State's Ruben Volta, was awarded Coach of the Year after guiding the team to the regular season title. Idaho's libero Alycia Wodke won the Newcomer of the Year and Northern Arizona's outside hitter Heaven Harris earned Freshman of the Year. Libero of the year went to Portland State's Tasha Bojanic.
