BROOKINGS, S.D. – Northern Colorado Wrestling dropped the second of the two duals this weekend, falling 34-6 to No. 20 South Dakota State. The only UNC wrestlers to grab wins were [141] Timmy Box and [184] Dylan Gabel.
After facing No. 22 North Dakota State University Friday night, the Bears had a quick turn around to face another top 25 opponent in No. 20 South Dakota State University. The Bears came out and competed hard, dropping three matches in overtime this afternoon. [125] Trey Andrews, [165] Keilan Torres, and [285] Jack Kuck all lost in sudden victory overtime.
No. 18 Timmy Box remains undefeated in duals this season (4-0) with his 10-6 decision over Isaac Andrade (SDSU). With superb riding on top, and solid takedowns on the feet, Box dominated this match to keep his dual meet record unblemished on the year. With the victory, Box is the first Bear to reach 20 wins this season (20-7).
With a 7-4 victory over Martin Mueller (SDSU), Dylan Gabel has now won three dual meet matches in a row. Gabel is starting to hit his stride this season, with back-to-back meet victories, and placing 8th at the Southern Scuffle to start the second half of the season.
Northern Colorado will turn its focus to Oregon State University, as the Bears take on the Beavers this upcoming Friday Night at 7 PM MT.
