Savannah Scott earned her second Big Sky Player of the Week Award three weeks on Tuesday
OGDEN, Utah – For the second time in three weeks, Northern Colorado women's basketball Savannah Scott earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors. She split the award this week with Eastern Washington's Ashli Payne.
Scott, averaged a double-double as the Bears went 2-0 to open Big Sky play, with 17.0 points and 11.0 assists, along with 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals. In both games, UNC scored over 90 points and had at least 28 assists. She had a career-high 11 assists in the pair of games, and turned the ball over just four times all week. Against Sacramento State in the Big Sky opener, Scott scored 14 points to go a third of the team's 33 assists, setting a program team DI record for assists in a game. Following the stellar performance against the Hornets, she topped it with a 20 points, 11 assists, five rebound game on 75.0 percent shooting.
For the year, the Bears' Swiss Army Knife is ranked first in scoring (14.3), second in rebounds (6.1) and first in assists (3.8). She is also second in the conference in free throw percentage shooting 88.2 percent from the line.
EWU's Payne earned the spilt of the weekly award with Scott by putting up a stat line of 21 points and 14 rebounds, shooting 70.0 percent in the Eagles lone game of the week as they defeated defending Big Sky Tournament Champion Idaho 67-57.
Northern Colorado hits the road this week going to Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. The week begins on Thursday in Cedar City, Utah at 7 pm against SUU.
