Â
A Look at the Wildcats
- Abilene Christian played just down the road in Colorado Springs against Air Force last weekend. AF pulled out the win 37-21 over the Wildcats. ACU's defense allowed 401 yards rushing to the Falcons. All three of Abilene Christian's TDs came from the passing game. QB Dallas Sealy tossed the pigskin for 259 yards on 16-of-33 attempts. His favorite receiver on the day was D.J. Fuller. Fuller hauled in five catches for 109 yards and a TD.
Â
Series Matchup
- Northern Colorado is 5-10-1 all-time against ACU. The most recent win came in the finale of the 2015 season when the Bears topped the Wildcats 40-36, giving UNC its first winning season since 2003. UNC is currently 2-6 in games at Abilene Christian. The last time the Bears went to ACU to play was in 1990, with the Bears prevailing 28-20. Northern Colorado also has a five-game win streak against ACU, after dropping the first 10 of 11 games in the series.
Â
Record Rush
- Redshirt sophomore running back, Zachary Lindsay set the program's Division I longest rush from scrimmage record last Saturday in the team's win against Rocky Mountain College. Lindsay broke free on an 87 yard scamper on his first touch of the season, besting the previous record of 80 yards set by Brandon Smith in 2008.
Â
Das Boot
- Punter and safety, Keifer Glau had an all-around solid day on special teams and at safety. Glau had five punts for 244 yard (48.8 avg.) with a long of 64 yard and three punts inside the 20. Glau also had one tackle and a key PBU on a third down situation in the season opener.
Â
Games on Sept. 10
- The Bears are currently 3-3 in games played on September 10. The last time UNC played on the date came back in the 2011 season against Colorado State, dropping the contest 33-14. Northern Colorado has also played Abilene Christian once before on September 10, back in the 1988 season with the Bears pulling out the 38-34 victory.
Â
Put up Some Points
- The 56 points scored ties the program's Division I single game scoring record that the Bears set in 2015 against UC Davis, when they defeated the Aggies 56-27. It was also the most points scored by any team in the Big Sky Conference last week.

Run it Again

Additionally, six of the teams eight touchdowns came from the ground game. Brandon Cartagena and Zachary Lindsay had the most productive days in the backfield for UNC. Cartagena rushed for 87 yards on 10 carries, while Lindsay had just two rushes for 88 yards, including his 87-yard burst down the sideline for a score.
Special Teams University
