GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado football released its 2017 schedule on Thursday headlined with a Pac 12 and a SEC opponent.
The Bears will make the trip to The Swamp to take on the Florida Gators (Sept. 9) and then journey just down the road to Boulder to play the Colorado Buffaloes (Sept. 16).
It's the first time UNC has played two FBS opponents in the same season since joining the Big Sky Conference in 2006, and the first time they'll face an SEC foe in the program's history.
The schedule will once again feature five home games, including the season opener on Sept. 2 against the College of Idaho.
For the second year in a row, the Bears will open up Big Sky play at home, with Idaho State on Sept. 23.
The team will be on the road for the next two weeks, facing Northern Arizona (Sept. 30) and North Dakota (Oct. 7) before going into the bye week on Oct. 14.
After the bye, fans will get back-to-back games in Greeley as the team takes on Montana State (Oct. 21) and Southern Utah (Oct. 28). It will be the first meeting between the Bobcats and the Bears in four seasons.
Northern Colorado will close out league play with road games at Sacramento State (Nov. 4) and Montana (Nov. 11), before coming home for the season finale against Cal Poly (Nov. 18).
