Guard Savannah Smith earned the Big Sky Player of the Week honor on Tuesday
OGDEN, Utah – For the second straight day, Northern Colorado's Savannah Smith has earned herself a Player of the Week honor. This time coming from the Big Sky Conference for her performance over November 15-21.
In that time span, Smith had a pair of 20 point games, as UNC picked up wins over two Mid-Major Top 25 teams in Florida Gulf Coast and San Diego. She averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. She shot 38.2 percent from the field and hit 15 of her 17 attempts from the free throw line.
Smith led the team in scoring in both games, with a career-high 25 points against FGCU and added in another 21 points against San Diego.
Against the Eagles, she also added in six rebounds, three assists and a block. Smith hit the go-ahead basket vs USD with 17.3 seconds left. Her final stat line for the game was 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal.
On the year she is leading UNC is scoring with 18.8 ppg and in assists with 3.3.
This is the third honor she has received this week. On Monday she was named both the College Sports Madness Mid-Major Player of the Week and Big Sky Player of the week.
