Orsburn is joining the Bears after a year at Belmont and will oversee pitchers and assist with hitting
GREELEY, Colo. – Softball head coach Shana Easley announced the addition of an assistant coach in Taylor Orsburn for the upcoming season.
Orsburn joins the Bears after serving as an assistant coach at Belmont University for the 2014-15 softball season. At Northern Colorado, she will oversee the pitchers as well as assist with hitting.
"We are excited to have Taylor join our staff," said Easley. "She has a great background to really help our student-athletes. She is a tremendous young coach that is passionate about the game, as well as a great communicator and competitor."
Orsburn, a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection during her playing career at Southern Illinois, finished her four years in Carbondale as one of the most decorated players in school history.
Used as both an infielder and pitcher, Orsburn left her mark at the plate and on the mound for the Salukis.
Orsburn dented SIU career record books in several offensive categories over her four-year career. Her 137 RBIs rank second in school history and ninth in MVC history. Her production at the plate did not stop there, however, as Orsburn currently ranks seventh in hits (197) fifth in doubles (39) and eighth in home runs (21). Her 49 RBIs in the 2011 season ranks third all-time and is the most by a freshman in school history.
Showing her versatility, Orsburn had a tremendously successful senior year in the circle for SIU. Having not pitched since high school, Orsburn took the challenge in stride and finished with an 8-2 record, including an undefeated, 6-0, conference mark. For her efforts, she was named the Missouri Valley Conference ERA Champion posting a 2.27 ERA in 74 innings pitched.
A native of Alto Pass, Illinois, Orsburn holds a bachelor's in sports administration at Southern Illinois.
