Strange Earns Several Honors

D'shara Strange earned co-Big Sky Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Big Sky Player of the Week Honors

OGDEN, Utah – Senior guard D'shara Strange (Fountain, Colo.) earned a couple of weekly awards for her performance this past week against Eastern Washington and Idaho. Strange was named co-Big Sky Player of the Week by the conference office, and Player of the Week by College Sports Madness for the Big Sky.
Strange was a big part of UNC's 2-0 weekend. The guard averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals over the weekend. In the Bears' 64-56 win over Eastern Washington on Thursday, she recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 22 points and a career high tying 16 rebounds.
Against Idaho on Saturday, Strange put up 14 points, to move into first place as the programs scoring leader at the Division I level, and second all-time with 1,591 points. She was strong defensively as well with four steals in each game.
North Dakota's Mia Loyd was the other Player of the Week from the Big Sky. Mia, a junior from Minneapolis, Minn., averaged a double-double for the week and earned her league-leading 13th double-double of the season as North Dakota extended its winning streak to three. She barely missed out on a double-double Thursday with 20 points and nine rebounds in a 68-62 win over Idaho. She followed with a 19-point, 11-rebound effort on Saturday in the 96-82 win over Eastern Washington.
Saturday also marked the seventh time that Loyd has earned 20 points or more. Loyd has led UND in scoring in 11 contests this season. For the week, she averaged 19.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and shot 55.2 percent from the floor.
