Oates Earns Big Sky Coach of the Year

Lyndsey Oates was named Big Sky Coach of the Year for the third time in her career

OGDEN, Utah – The Big Sky Conference announced their Volleyball Coach of the Year honors Friday, and for the third time in her career, Lyndsey Oates was awarded it. Oates was also named Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011.
Oates led Northern Colorado to an NCAA Tournament berth for the fourth time in six years, their first appearance since 2012. UNC entered the Big Sky Tournament as the third seed sweeping the six seed Portland State, two seed North Dakota, and host and number one seed Idaho State to win the title.
The 2014 Bears will learn who they play in the NCAA tournament on Sunday, Nov. 30.
UNC placed four Bears on the All-Big Sky team in 2014, they were Andrea Spaustat, Brianna Strong, Kendra Cunningham and Ashley Guthrie.
Oates has had a solid career at Northern Colorado with a career record of 181-126.
Northern Colorado will play one more match before going to the NCAA Tournament, on Saturday at Bank of Colorado Arena vs Denver at Noon.Â
