Volleyball Places Four on All-Big Sky Team

UNC volleyball had four players make it onto the All-Big Sky Team
OGDEN, Utah – The Big Sky Conference released their All-Conference Volleyball Team and individual awards Wednesday morning, and four Bears were named to it.
Two players made the first team and two more made the second team.
Senior middle blockers Brianna Strong (Mount Vernon, Iowa) and Andrea Spaustat (Omaha, Neb.) earned their way to first team honors. Strong and Spaustat sit second and first, respectively in total blocks for the Bears this year, and third and second in kills.
This is the second time Spaustat has been named to the All-Big Sky first team, her first time came in 2011. Spaustat was named All-Big Sky honorable mention last year, and second team All-Big Sky in 2012.
Strong made the second team All-Big Sky last year, this is her first time making All-Big Sky first team.
Setter Ashley Guthrie (Saugus, Calif.) and outside hitter Kendra Cunningham (Eaton, Colo.) were named to the second team.
This is the first time for both Guthrie and Cunningham to be named to any All-Big Sky team.
Guthrie has 1091 assists this year, and leads all sophomores in the Big Sky in hitting at .330.
Cunningham leads Northern Colorado with 328 kills this season and has 14 double-doubles.
Spaustat, Guthrie, Strong, Cunningham and the rest of the Northern Colorado volleyball team starts Big Sky Tournament play Thursday at 1:00 p.m. against Portland State in Pocatello, Idaho.
Idaho State's Tressa Leyman was named conference MVP, with North Dakota's Faith Dooley and McKenzie Hart being awarded Outstanding Freshman and Libero of the Year, respectively. The Top Newcomer went to Stephanie Hagins of Idaho.Â
