Guthrie Earns Big Sky Player of the Week

Ashley Guthrie named Big Sky Player of the Week in volleyball
OGDEN, Utah -- Sophomore setter Ashley Guthrie was awarded the Big Sky Player of the Week Monday by the conference office for her performance over the past weekend.
Guthrie helped lead the Bears to two sweeps over Sacramento State and North Dakota over the weekend. Combined in the two matches she tallied 3 kills, 72, assists, 1 sercice ace, 8 digs, and 4 total blocks. She also joined an elite club, passing 2,000 career assists in the North Dakota match. She is the ninth player in school's history to achieve this feat and currently sits at 2,035 for her career.Â
Northern Colrado has been one of the top offensive teams in conference play, ranking second in both assists (13.19) and kills (14.35) per set, and third in hitting percentage (.247) behind Guthries lead.Â
She has posted 40 assists in all but one conference match so far, averaging 9.9 assists per set this season.Â
It is not just Guthrie's sets that are helping the Bears, but also her tough serving. Against North Dakota she started team runs of 5-2 and 7-3 to take control of the first two sets.Â
